• Current Missionaries Guatemala
Nicole, 25, is serving in Guatemala at Kano’j along with fellow long-term IWM David Deegan. She is from Carlow in Ireland, which is 80km south of Dublin. She is a trained chef and has a certificate in horticulture. She has always wanted to work with young people in Central America. She has trained with Viatores Christi in Dublin and has volunteered with them for the past year. She has been working with St. Catherine’s Community Centre Outreach Programme with the Irish Travelling Community, particularly Traveller children for the past two years. She likes to read, listen to all kinds of music, meet new people and become involved with group activities. She has recently started learning Spanish and is eager to improve this with practice in the field. Nicole is an active member of her parish choir in Tinryland, in Carlow. She enjoys walking her three dogs in the surrounding area. Along with her cousin and aunt, she helps organise and co-ordinate the Youth Masses in her parish. She is really looking forward to her work and learning about the lives, customs and culture of the people of Guatemala. |
