Mexico city, Santa Fe

Emma Buckhout

Emma, 22, grew up in Cazenovia, NY and recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a BA in International Relations. While studying international politics and development, she also grew in faith with the help of her involvement in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. Volunteer experiences in Philadelphia, Jamaica and Ecuador convinced her that she wanted to learn more about the domestic and international structures that promote social injustice. She looks forward to being in Santa Fe, Mexico as an opportunity for learning, discernment, and building meaningful relationships. By engaging directly in faith-led community in this neighborhood, she hopes to learn about issues and acquire skills that will transfer to future vocation in international development and social justice.

Tara Hurford

Tara, who comes from a small area in Southwestern Nova Scotia, called Bear River, is a vibrant 26 year old with a passion and dream to somehow devote her life to working for social and economic justice. Having studied English and History and having the fortune of experiences in Catholic social justice organizations, development and peace movements, and cross-cultural immersions, she now years to more closely live with, work alongside and be "transformed" by the 'poor'.  Hoping to gain more intimate knowledge of what it is she is struggling for in this fight for peace and justice, Tara is serving in a variety of capacities in the community of Santa Fe, in Mexico City.
