• Current Missionaries Chimbote, Peru
Marcelle, 37, is a 1997 graduate of the University of Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX with a double degree; Bachelor in Music Flute Performance and Bachelor of Science in Nursing. From 1997 to 2009, she worked as a hospital nurse in post partum, nursery, women's health and surgery. Marcelle is taking 2 years (2009-2011) to learn the Spanish language and explore Nursing in a community health setting while growing in faith and experiencing the beauty of living abroad as a lay missionary in Peru. Marcelle's hobbies include playing the flute in a liturgical setting, cooking, fitness and enjoying the company of friends and family. Kelli, 22, is still reveling in the mystery that has her now embracing Chimbote, Peru as home. An Isanti, Minnesota native, and recent graduate of DePaul University, her journey in learning how to love and live radically free is only beginning. With a degree in Creative Writing as well as minor studies in Ethics and Social Justice and Peace Studies, she hopes to continue to share stories that transform the master narrative with transparent voices of reality. An avid reader, she is always taking suggestions for favorite books, and a lover of music, you will never be without a song and dance partner. Community, coffee, and quiet contemplation fuel her spirit for the adventure that is life! Emily, 22, is serving as a lay missionary in Chimbote, Peru. Originally from a farm in Dodge, Nebraska, she graduated from Creighton University in Omaha where she studied Economics and Journalism. While spending four months in the Dominican Republic, she realized her passion for global and systemic issues and her desire to live with and learn from marginalized communities. She loves learning, talking, reading, and writing about politics, culture, people, theology, etc., and enjoys hiking, swimming, and cooking. Future plans could include a graduate program in international development, peace studies, or a related field, but Emily – with her inquisitive mind, bright smile and insatiable hunger to know and challenge the world – is open to the challenges and joys that will come with her time in Peru!
